- 1:00: Introduction, Presentation of Syllabus, Questionnaire, Shopping List
- 4:15: Max videos, Laetitia's rigged briefcase - An intro to Max (the palette, objects, control vs. signal, building a patch)
2-September 6 (log) Assignment for Next week
- Digital audio concepts (hearing / demonstrate speaker & battery)
- Intro to Max - Max-MSP: patch/palette; control/signals; various signal generators; simple additive synthesis.
- Exercices in class: "Bell ringing" (metro and envelope generator), Your own additive patch (or other signal generators), Sound Shadows: create a sound which will be affected/modified by the movement of bodies in space (what is the relationship: the "narrative"??) The sensor we will use to test your patch is the PIR detector module.
- Make sure fill the shopping list and give LS cash.
3-September 13 (log) Assignment
- More Max-MSP ( Amplitude modulation - Frequency Modulation - Sampling)
4-September 20 (log) Assignment
- Go over last week's patches - Listen to students' patches - Problem solving.
- Max_MSP: more on sampling, abstractions (patches, bpatchers..)
- Hook up the motion detector to some of your patches ("sound shadows" described for Sept 6 class)
- Hack a mouse, introducing simple mapping strategies (for next week assignment)
5-September 27 (log) Assignment
- During the first two hours, Laetitia will help one-on-one and try to clear any Max confusion...
